Most small photo papers are designed for inkjet printers and accept both dye-based and pigment-based inks. Separately, some 2 x 3 sticky-backed films use a zero-ink technology made for mobile printers.

The common surface finishes offered are glossy and satin (semi‑gloss).

Reported weights range about 240–280 gsm, with thickness values around 10.5–10.9 mil.
