If the product is labeled restickable, many mounting dots regain tack by washing with mild soap and water and then air-drying. When cared for this way they can be reused and are typically removable without leaving residue. Follow any manufacturer instructions on the product label for specific care guidance.

Adhesive dots adhere best to flat, smooth surfaces such as metal, acrylic, glass, finished wood, tile, dry-erase boards, painted wallboard and most plastics. Some types are formulated for indoor or outdoor use—check the product description for outdoor suitability.

Some adhesive dots are sold as pre-cut magnetic circles or magnetic adhesive dots designed to add magnetism to paper and other lightweight materials, making them suitable for use on whiteboards, refrigerators and file cabinets.
