Certifications vary by model. Some rattan swag lamps show listings such as UL or ETL, while other product pages do not list industry or government safety certifications.

Shades are most often woven rattan or natural seagrass/wood. Frames and fixture bodies are commonly metal (for example, iron) to provide structure and support.

Height adjustability varies widely. Many rattan swag lamps offer adjustable cords or rods with minimums as low as about 7.9 inches and typical maximums in the roughly 47–55 inch range. Some pendant or plug-in styles provide much longer cord lengths (around 188–199 inches) or are described as suitable for ceilings up to about 14 feet.
