Some journals include preprinted starter planner pages and dividers (calendars, meeting notes, to-do lists, wish lists, password tracker), card/document pockets, a smartphone pocket sized for a 6-inch phone, built-in pen holders (often with a pen), interior pockets, ribbon bookmarks, and—for a fitness journal—an included tape measure and pen.

At least one planner is explicitly refillable: it uses an A5 6-ring binder system designed to fit standard A5 refill pages and holds up to 100 sheets. Several other titles are also labeled "Refillable."
