Two main types are available: real paraffin-wax tea lights (often unscented and hand-poured) and battery-operated LED flameless tea lights with plastic bodies and built-in LEDs.
Paraffin-wax tea lights generally have an approximate burn time of about 2 to 3 hours.
Trim the wick before lighting to about 1/4 inch for a clean, even burn. Clean the exterior by spot-wiping as needed to remove soot or debris.
Battery-operated tea lights commonly use button-cell lithium batteries such as CR2025, CR2450, and CR2032. Several product listings note that batteries are included or preinstalled.
Product details commonly specify indoor use only and note that many models are not waterproof—avoid contact with water to prevent battery corrosion. Check individual listings for any statements about suitability around children and pets.
