Footprints act as a barrier against dust, dirt, sand, grass, water and bugs, helping to keep the shelter interior clean and dry.

They’re described as rugged and tear‑resistant. Some use 210‑denier coated poly‑oxford to resist ripping and punctures, while others use tough polyethylene for strong tear resistance.

Footprints can be rinsed off with a hose or swept clean. Many fold compactly for easy storage and travel.

Some footprints include a thick base layer and a built‑in ledge around the perimeter to provide extra edge protection against moisture and debris.

Installation and removal are described as easy: many require no assembly and use quick‑position toggles or Velcro for fast attachment and removal.
