Peel-and-stick decals list a metric range of 30 cm to 170 cm. Full-length wall rulers use imperial units and measure from about 6 inches up to 6.5 feet — a six-foot ruler can record to 6.5 feet when mounted as instructed.

Both metric and imperial units are used: some decals use centimeters (30–170 cm), while wooden or printed rulers use inches and feet.

Clean and smooth the wall surface, peel the sticker from the backing sheet, apply it in place, then gently smooth or wipe to remove air bubbles.

Wooden rulers typically have a metal keyhole hanger attached to the back and arrive ready to hang. Some models may unfold at a hinge but generally require no assembly.

Some wall rulers are intended to be mounted six inches off the floor so a six-foot ruler can record up to 6.5 feet. That specified spacing accommodates baseboards.
