Q: how thick is the exterior wall? how deep can it be carved before hitting the interior?

  • A: Almost exactly 1/2 inch thick. I haven't tried shading, just cutting all the way through, but it looks like someone else had success with a dremel. It does make a huge mess when you carve it.

    NOT carvable!

    It’s nice as just a decorative pumpkin, but it’s not at all carvable, which is why I bought it. Please stop marketing it this way, because the only way to carve this thing would be with an electric Dremel tool.

    For the fact these are called carvable I gave them a 1 star. I was so excited to be able to carve with my kids, and let me say there is no way they could have carved these. This turned into another mom craft. Also, want to note the smell that came off as you darved them was very strong, and styrofoam everywhere. Very messy. If you are going to paint they could be fun, but don’t attempt to carve!!!

    Good pumpkin decoration!

    We aren’t using this as a carvable pumpkin, so I can’t speak to the quality for that but it seems like it should hold up. We are using it to put painted handprints on! I ended up getting it for $9 (half off) the day after Halloween!
