A chance meeting
Nobody boarding the Ferry expected anything strange to happen.. It was just a few days from Christmas and most of the passengers were heading to family or friends for the holidays. Things seem to be going OK when all of a sudden the passengers hear a huge sound only to find out that the Ferry has stalled in the middle of thee Puget Sound. With nothing to do but wait suddenly people sitting near to each other start being friends. Avery who is going to spend time with her brother Reed as this will be the first Christmas just the two of them since the grandma died last year. Beth and Olivia and traveling to spend Christmas and all Olivia wants is to see her daddy. They have separated since Logan moved out. He sees Olivia every other week but never really talks to Beth when he picks her up. Dan, Kyle and Harrison all in the Military are returning home to see family for the holidays. James is a nervous wreck since Lily, his pregnant wife is all alone. They have not met any friends and he wants to be with her for when the baby arrives together. Virginia is going to visit her twin sister Veronica and hopefully let the past be as they have not spoken since their parents died and fighting about the inheritance and who should get what. Thanks to this very enjoyable story Harrison and Avery see each other again and start talking and talking for hours with the ferry stuck. Beth and Olivia will be in for a huge surprise and Kellie (Harrison's sister) and Reed (Avery's brother) meet while waiting for them to arrive. The characters all seem to benefit from this ferry problem and many of the people on the Ferry's lives will change forever. A wonderful read.

Great Christmas book
This is a story of hope, friendship, and making the best of a bad situation. Imagine you're on a ferry that breaks down in the middle of Puget Sound. Usually reliable, two days before Christmas, it breaks down. You and everyone else is OK, but people chose this ferry to get them to Seattle at a specific time. To see Santa, to get to his pregnant wife who is in labor, to meet her brother for the holiday, to meet his sister for the holiday, to play a paying gig, to keep their job, to reconnect with family.. So many reasons that getting stuck on the ferry for hours isn't what anyone wants, but is possibly exactly what they need. A wonderfully sweet Christmas story that is done so well by this author. If you're looking for a feel good story, Debbie Macomber is one of the best.

I gave the book a 5 but actually I didn't read it since the shipping took so long. Target, please find another way to ship books. This is the second book that the packaging was terrible.

Cute, fun, heartfelt
Emotional, cute, fun, and heartfelt, this story embodies everything I love about Debbie Macomber’s holiday books. The romance is soft, gentle, and sweet with an organic feel that just unfolds naturally. Multiple characters each carry their own heavy burdens into the season, and in true Macomber style, I was gently drawn into the heart of their struggles and then tenderly led to peace and contentment, all wrapped in the glow of Christmas. Each storyline felt real and relatable, stirring every emotion that living through such moments would bring. The culmination, with music, shared strength, and the group’s quiet unity, was beautiful. It was all made even more powerful as the Christmas spirit took center stage. I always hate to say goodbye to Macomber’s characters, but I close her books feeling full of warmth and hope, seeing the world in a kinder light. This is definitely one to move to the top of your holiday reading list.

Entertaining
Avery Bond is on her way to visit her brother Reed in Seattle. When the ferry she is on breaks down on the Puget Sound. Avery and Harrison start to talk. Avery is hesitant since she was burned by a guy in the Navy. On the flip side, Reed is waiting for Avery in Seattle and so is Harrison’s sister, Kellie. They end up going to lunch while waiting for their siblings to arrive. Will this spark a relationship for Avery and Reed, or will it be short-lived? Debbie Macomber delivers a heartfelt and entertaining Christmas read that is centered around family with a touch of romance! I love Debbie Macomber’s books! They are always an automatic buy for me, as you can always depend on an uplifting and meaningful story that leaves you feeling satisfied in the end! A great book to kick off your holiday season!
