In a galaxy where colossal space-beasts fuel entire civilizations, a wounded drifter and an exiled alien warrior are drawn into the cursed hunt of the Pale Molok. Betrayal, obsession and impossible choices await aboard the doomed starship Pekuod. In a distant galaxy, where energy is drawn from the blood of colossal space-beasts known as Molok, young Ishmaeel finds himself aboard the cursed starship Pekuod. Bound by fate to Quee-Keg, a fierce alien warrior with a haunted past, he is thrust into a hunt led by the relentless Captain Akhabb--whose obsession with the legendary Pale Molok threatens to doom them all.
