About the Author
Kady MacDonald Denton has illustrated numerous titles for Kingfisher, including A Child's Treasury of Nursery Rhymes, In the Light of the Moon by Sam McBratney, and two collections written by Ann Pilling, The Kingfisher Book of Bible Stories and The Kingfisher Treasury of Myths and Legends. She is also the creator of several picture books. She lives in Manitoba, Canada, and received the prestigious Governor General's Award for her illustration work.
Ann Pilling is a poet but also a writer of fiction, mainly for children. Between 1983 and 2003, she published over 30 books for children and two adult novels. Her books have been translated into many languages. Two titles were commended for the Carnegie Medal and she won The Guardian Prize for Children's Fiction for her novel Henry's Leg. In 2003, Ann made a conscious decision to concentrate on writing poetry, and her poems have won many prizes.
