Bothy Threads Lych Gate XSS20 Counted Cross Stitch Kit

Stitch Lych Gate, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a wooden lych gate opens through a brick wall beneath a blossom tree, with a dog waiting beside it and a beehive in the garden beyond. A little stitcher's folklore: the lych gate takes its name from the Old English 'lic', meaning corpse, as coffins rested beneath it before a burial. Why this kit: from Sally Swannell's Country Estate Collection, it is stitched on 16-count ice blue Aida and pairs with the rest of the series. Kit includes: 16-count ice blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch and back stitch. A frame is not included. Stitch the gate and garden in cross stitch from the centre, then add the details in back stitch. Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A peaceful piece for a country lover.
