Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Incredible kids shorts!

TTS if not slightly small, which is fine for us, just FYI. Light weight perfect for summer, with cool features like the zippered pocket. Also adjustable waistband. It’s HOT where we live and these are great for that. Plus, my 7 YO wants to “train for running competitions” in them. ;-) Get ‘em on sale, if you can!

Comfortable and lightweight

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these shorts for my seven-year-old son who weighs 64 pounds and is wearing a size small. These shorts are very lightweight, have a dry fit feel to them, and are very comfortable to wear all day long. My son could easily pull these on and off himself. These are great to wear for outdoor sports, we’re just lounging around the house.

These were nice and lightweight and had a zipper on the pocket as well as an elastic waistband. My son is six years old and the size 6–7 fit in perfectly with room to grow. These looked a little dressier than normal shorts, which I liked.

Lightweight material, fun color

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son is 9.5 years old and is short and slim for his age. He typically sizes down in shorts to wear a size 8 which is what he tried on here. Overall they fit him well, even without the drawstring tied! The color is a nice deep pink which is a fun summer color. The material is lightweight, perfect for summer activities and sports. The zip pockets are a nice touch as well.

I ordered the size small for my child who is age six and wears a small six/seven. These run true to size. They fit perfectly. There are useable drawstring on the inside for adjusting. There is a nice zippered pocket on the front right. The material is lightweight and perfect for your little athlete

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great pair active shorts to add to your collection. My son is 12 years old and 100lbs and he wears a size large or size 12 in kids size. I ordered this pair of shorts in size large and it is a true fit and fits him great. It is a lightweight and easy to wash and dry. Love that it has pockets on both sides too!
