Don't recommend

The ss30 stairway gate is better and what we use at the top of our stairs-but it needs a lot of space to swing open. Decided to try a retractable gate for the bottom of the stairs. There was never enough tension on the mesh after locking it down to prevent a small child from pulling up on it at the bottom and going underneath. Perhaps the one we recieved was defective.
