The Regalo Retractable Baby Gate is a simple and effective way to protect your baby and home. Made of high-quality mesh, the retractable baby gate slides to fit openings up to 50” and stands 30” tall. A: We do not recommend using this gate at the stop of the stair for safety and security reasons. It does require the ability to screw it in something - wall, door jam, wooden railing - in order to mount it.

Q: How do i uninstall/remove the mount, that holds the mesh part, from my banister?

A: To remove the gate, you will be pushing and holding onto the circular lock release button while sliding the gate outwards from the upper mount and upwards from the lower mount. There is an image of how to remove the gate in the instruction book under the "Operating Your Gate" section, step 3.

A: We do not recommend using this gate outdoors as there is no weather protection on it to help prevent deterioration of the fabric due to the weather conditions.

First one I purchased stopped locking after a month. Thought I'd give it a second chance, the second one I bought the bottom plastic bracket broke twice, having used the spare from my first gate. Very disappointing when you buy it to keep kids and pets safe.

The screws included stripped out immediately, making it hard to get them out to readjust anything. Which was needed because the top part wouldn't latch for anything. It doesn't secure and comes off the second there is any kind of force. I'll be returning the one I didn't take out of the box. The other got absolutely destroyed during install so no way to return it. This is even less sturdy and harder to use than the super cheap pressure gates so just get those and save yourself the money and frustration

This was SO hard to use. The lock function was sticky and hard to push and turn. And then trying to open or close the gate itself took a lot of strength and effort. Definitely not something an adult could do quickly or easily if in a rush. Had to return after a couple days because it was too irritating.

If it's something you will keep in place without opening and closing it might work for you. I Put it at the bottom of te stairs and smashes my finger. You have to pull hard for it to close.

A few zip ties and it was perfectly installed! I’m obsessed with how easy it is to use and how well it locks!

It locks on the top so baby can not accidentally make it retract. My only complaint is that the instructions are complicated and mine came with 2 of the same mounting templates so I could not get them lined up.

I do wish it came in a bigger size as we have a long kitchen, however, I suggested this to all my parent friends with little crawlers/walkers.

I really wanted something unobtrusive but would also prevent a dog and child from accessing the stairs and this one fits the bill. The mesh is strong, the lock is super easy to use (love the visual indicator!), and installation was fairly easy. It’s effective and aesthetically pleasing, which is a win in my book!

On top of that, it doesn’t feel very sturdy—I definitely prefer the metal kind for better security. The quality seems decent, but the hassle of adjusting it and the lack of stability make it not worth the effort.

I like how the gate has a lock so that if you lean on it the fabric doesn’t bow in, that’s a huge safety feature. This is also less of an eye sore than the metal gates because you can retract it to the side.

We got this gate for ease of use and to just keep our son from trying to eat the rocks that we track in the entryway. While the gate is easy to set up and less complicated locking mechanism than our metal gates that stump even our smartest friends, I found the retractor to be a bit aggressive. It’s slipped a couple times and has the force to put a hole in the dry wall if you’re not careful! The gate itself is perfect for younger babies or toddlers, and wasn’t a problem to set up, though it does require drilling holes. It works for what we wanted, but it’s not our favorite gate in the house.
