Safety 1st Vintage Grey Wood Doorway Security Gate

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this gate from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I must say that the security gate is not what I expected. 1. The design is really stylist, contemporary and very sleek but upon closer inspection of it, the quality of this product came into questioning as the material seemed very fragile. This is a concern with a very active toddler who climbs a lot, however, it keeps the dog out. 2. The installation process was another concern, opening and securing it closed and well as locking it in place became more of a challenge than with ease. We tried to install the gate at the bottom of our stairs as to contain our toddler and dog downstairs or at the top of the stairs to keep them upstairs. In conclusion the security gate is appealing to the eyes but it seems to lack quality that can be improved on as well as it's usability can be improved making it much better

I have four kids ranging from the ages of 2 to 11, plus I have two dogs, a French bulldog and a lab puppy. At first thought, I thought this Gate would be great to put in the doorway between our kitchen and playroom. Once I got everything out and ready to install, I quickly realized that it wasn’t quite as it seemed. The gate itself is pretty short, my two year-old and my puppy can both climb over it. The gate is durable and visually appealing compared to other gates, however, it’s functionally challenging. I found that I was able to get it tight enough to stay put, but it was hard to figure out and it’s just not tall enough to really be effective.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super easy to install and use. A lot of gates do not open and close well and this one did. The color was okay but I will take ease of use over looks everyday. I used this gate to keep dogs in and kiddos out. We have an opening to the hall ways for our bedrooms and by placing it there I was able to keep my kids from running around the house and my dogs from getting in their rooms. It is easy to set up and is helpful to create a quick boundary, but this gate definitely isn’t going to keep our curious toddler contained for long. I’ve attached a picture to show how well it blends in with our wood flooring and the overall style of our home. It is lightweight and easy to use around the house. We used it to separate our dogs during mealtimes. The locking mechanism is a tight fit and took some getting used to. The ability to adjust the width for different doorways makes this a versatile gate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, this gate is quite nice visually. It doesn’t stand out in a room but if you notice it, it does look good. At first I had a little difficulty setting it up, but once I understood the process it was fairly easy and the cups provide good stability. It’s also worth noting, the fencing portion is a more effective barrier than gates I’ve used with vertical bars or slats. With this gate you can still see thru but our child couldn’t stick their arm thru it at all. Which is great when separating children from pets. The only downside I could mention is it didn’t feel quite as strong as some metal gates I’ve used, especially when extended to its full width. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very pretty gate. It was super easy to latch in to my door frame and lock in to place. I put it up to keep my 2yo daughter from going outside, as she knows how to unlock the door. Sadly, she is far too strong and was able to pull it out of the door frame almost immediately. Luckily, I just had my second child and am excited to use this as a barrier for this baby as she begins to crawl. I presume that it would be good for a small baby or puppy training. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Safety First Vintage Grey Wood Doorway Gate complements of Stellar Panel in exchange for my honest opinion. The gate is made with a sturdy wooden frame that is stained grey, so the wood grain shows. The plastic grey colored lattice compliments the grey wooden frame. This nice nuetral color would be great with the current grey trend in home decor. The style of this gate is a very classic design with the wooden adjustable bar on the back. The most challenging part of this design for me is the bar latch. Challenging for me because I sometimes have issues with my hand strength and motor skills. This part is different than older models because the latch part indents over and under the cross bar. The indentations make the bar lock in place. To unlock I had to pull the latch apart. This would be a good feature for the precocious child or pet that can sometimes figure out how things work and open them anyway. A very strong child would be able to open this once they figure it out. This gate comes with wall cups to attach to doorways or wall. The cups are attached to the doorway with a screw, and come with circles of double sided tape to help with installation. The cups are also a new feature to prevent the gate from being pushed over. It is good to prevent the gate being pushed or falling over. The drawback is the cups limit where the gate can be used, as it only comes with one set of four cups. Screwing the cups into the doorway or wall will cause damage to those surfaces. Easy repair for a homeowner but might be costly for a renter. Seems to me, if I have to install the cups permanently. I would rather have a hinge on the gate or an accordion type gate permanently installed to eliminate the need to store the gate when not in use.

I'm not a fan of the vintage style though- I prefer the type of gate that you are able to open without having to dismount. It's easy to install using a pressure mounted system. It's a nice color. It has a wooden frame with grate made out of a plastic holed material. If I'm being highly critical, some of the plastic holes can be a little sharp, like it was never smoothed off after the fabrication process. The height of the gate is a little low. If you are using this gate for a toddler, it may or may not be successful depending on how adventurous your toddler is. My toddler climbs right over this with its short height using the holes for leverage. However, if it keeps your little one out/in, then the height can be an advantage because its easy for an adult to step over.

Really enjoy using the Safety 1st Vintage Grey Wood Doorway Security Gate. I like the aesthetic of the gate as the traditional “old school” type gate but with newer modern additions. There’s still some plastics on it though. I’d would have preferred it to be fully wooden. It was a little tricky to figure out at first but now I can use it effortlessly. I have it in the kitchen keeping the babies out of the area while it’s busy in there. My older toddler (3) hasn’t figured out how to open it and let himself in yet like he has with all the other gates we’ve had. This one actually stays put! What I like most about the gate is that my toddler can’t open it so it actually does it’s job.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through Stellar Product Testing Panel. Overall, I really like the design and look of the gate. It's much more attractive than any other gates I've seen on the market. It's short enough that I can step over it negating the need to open it one handed. I originally wanted to set it up at the top of stairs, but decided it wasn't the most functional place for it and put it in my kitchen. Set up is easy, but I wish it wasn't quite so permanent. I like to be able to move my gates as needed and unless I buy more wall cups and adhesive pads, it's staying there for good. It is tall enough to keep the baby in place, but if you have a large dog, it likely won't be a problem for them to get over. The only other thing to consider is if you have bulky baseboards, this will need to go above them. Mine are about 4 inches high, leaving a generous gap at the bottom.

I feel like it is a good height and I liked the installation options for the walls so that I could accommodate the trim at the bottom of my walls. They were easy to install on the wall and held the gate well. Adjusting the gate was difficult at first and a little tricky, but I was able to secure it.

I love how sleek and lightweight this gate is, and it was very easy to install. It is perfect for our hall entry as it is quick and easy to pop on and off depending on our needs for the day. While it is great for creating a barrier, I would not have felt comfortable using this gate during our son’s climbing days around 18 months, as it does not feel/look like it would hold up to frequent climbing/pushing. However for before and after that phase it is much more aesthetically pleasing and easy to move around than our big heavy duty plastic one.

I would’ve preferred a stronger, more durable feel to the gate. While it was simple to install, it’s not the easiest to open. It was super easy to install but it is a little shorter than my previous one, which makes it so much easier for me to just walk over. We need a gate between our front hall and kitchen to keep the babe from going into the bathroom/or up the stairs and also to keep our dog away from the front door so this is perfect! I love the wood look and the plastic geometric center almost looks like metal from far away, it doesn’t look plastic at all in my opinion. My favorite part about this gate is it’s not a hideous plastic baby gate. It actually looks nice in my entryway. This is the perfect gate if you are looking to preserve your walls. It anchors well with pretty strong adhesive pads on the wall cups. I choose not to install it permanently but it comes with extra nails if you want to. The design its nice and it goes with any modern decoration. I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking for a innovative and sturdy design either to keep your pet away from any room or to baby proof any area at your house.
