Q: Is this a reflecting telescope? I can't seem to find that information regarding this model.

A: Yes, this telescope is a refractor. In fact just to give you a little bit more info, refracting telescopes are pretty close to being the strongest type out there. Cassegrain telescopes, are by far the best out there because of the magnification and quality needed to produce a clear image. You'll spend anywhere from $100-10,000,000 on these. But refractors are a great option for beginners or anything else.

A: This is a fantastic option for a young boy, it's cheap, affordable and not kind of trashy. However if your looking to get him something that isnt this affordable If I may,
i suggest looking at Meade - Infinity 80mm Altazimuth Refractor Telescope.

I like the brand
I brought this as a Christmas present but it didn't work, the lenses were the wrong type even after we installed them correctly. I want a telescope that doesn't hurt my eye to watch the sky.

Telescope
Takes a bit of patience to get adjusted. But after some trial and error, we managed to get a beautiful clear view of the moon! It does come with an instructional disk. However, it would not play in a DVD or CD player so that’s basically useless. Haven’t tried the phone adapter yet, but hoping that works well as that was part of the reason we chose this telescope. So far, it seems to be a great starter telescope for the price, though!

Didn’t work save your time, energy and money
This telescope didn’t work at all at night when it’s supposed to work but if you try it during the day like I did to see if there was a cap and something blocking the light you can see the light but only when it’s sunny.
