Q: Does that tiny top knob open a shelf or is it decorative?

Q: What is the depth of the top? The overall depth is 17” but the top is smaller.

This night stand is a perfect size. The open shelves make it great for placing a c-pap machine a bit less conspicuously. You still have a drawer for essentials and plenty of room on top, plus the pull out for extra space. Assembly was very easy.
