Craftsman Genuine String Trimmer Line, 0.065- Inch, 3-Pack Spools

Why do the replacement spools not fit? Why would you sell a product and then change the replacement part that now doesn't fit?

Same problem as everyone else, trying to replace the spool in my dad's trimmer and the replacement spool doesn't fit. Seems like an arbitrary design decision made solely to fool inexperienced or older folks like him into buying the wrong product and wasting money, there's zero reason this shouldn't fit.

Replacement spools don’t fit making the trimmer worthless

Here I am wasting my time because the engineering team at Craftsman aren't very smart. Why in God's name would you change the inner diameter of the replacement spool just enough so it doesn't fit? Everyone their should be fired. Maybe craftsman should better interview their engineers before hiring them.. Too many inexperienced dopes.

I'm having the same issue as the others. I measured mine and sure enough, the original spool had a .478" diameter lip in it while the replacement spools have a .435" lip, so they don't slide down the post to mate with the ratcheting mechanism. If Craftsman is going to arbitrarily change a needed part on a tool like this, then I'm switching to Ryobi. This is ridiculous.

I have a cmcst900. The replacement spools inner diameter is smaller than the original so it doesn’t seat all of the way down and latch into the automatic feeder lever (the spool cap wouldn’t latch into the trimmer). I have had to trim down the inner diameter so the spool fits the center alignment cylinder and engage in the automatic feeder, my spool cap now fits and latches in like it’s supposed to. I shouldn’t have to manually trim to fit it, I’ve bought multiple replacement spools in the last 6 months and they’re all this way. Maybe my cmcst900 is defected and the alignment cylinder is larger than it should be? Either way, the replacement spools don’t fit my cmcst900 without manually making the inner diameter bigger.

I ordered 3 pack of spools, supposedly used all the numbers i can see in the instructs and was sent spools that are 2 times as big as 1 that came with the trimmer.The trimmer itself is good but all i want is to replace the spools.
