The story of Dave’s Killer Bread® began at the Portland Farmers Market, when Dave Dahl and his nephew brought some loaves of Dave's bread to sell. For Dave, this marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Though he grew up in a family of bakers, his life took a different path. A path that landed him in prison for 15 years. Determined to prove his worth and make a positive impact, Dave worked tirelessly to bake breads that tasted unlike anything else on the market — packed with seeds and grains, made with only the very best organic and Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients. Dave’s Killer Bread® believes everyone is capable of greatness. One in three of the company's employee partners at their Milwaukie, OR bakery has a criminal background—but your past doesn't define your future. As a proud Second Chance Employer, Dave’s Killer Bread® truly believes everyone deserves a second chance to become a Good Seed.

I'm someone who (unfortunately for my wallet) doesn't like cheap breads. They just don't taste good compared to breads with more substance, but healthier breads tend to mold quickly, & have a dry/stiff texture. This bread is soft yet firm, & tastes mild yet great. As long as you keep it away from warm/humid areas (by the stove, air fryer, dishwasher, etc) it can last for weeks. My review is lower because it's actually cheaper at Whole Foods. Seriously, Target? Making your pricea higher than a store nicknamed "Whole Paycheck"?

We have bought this bread for years because my toddler and infant daughters have sesame allergies. Sesame flour was added, unknown to us and we gave our baby toast, leading to a reaction. Super bummed about this.

Adding Sesame for Profit

I love this bread. It’s delicious. And I loved Dave’s Killer Bread’s mission and heart. Or what I thought it was. But in the wake of the FDA’s new guidelines to protect people with sesame allergies, rather than cleaning their facilities as would be required for compliance for their sesame-free products, Dave’s has chosen to simply add sesame flour to everything. Because apparently sesame flour is cheaper than cleaning, and profits matter more than people with sesame allergies being able to eat a bread that until recently they had safely enjoyed for years. Disappointed. I won’t be buying this bread again.

Incredibly disappointed that you added sesame to products in an effort to avoid cleaning to be in complicance with the FDA's cross contamination regulations. Shame on you!

Im so frustrated that they added sesame to their buns. Thank God I actually read the ingredients because I always gave him this bread and i knew it had no sesame and i dont know what went through my mind to look at the ingredients before giving it to my son but i did. And wow i was in shock that it has been added. This is a horrible thing to do. Many people can die from your stupid and careless change in recipe. I will never support your company again.

I guess I'm late to the game re added sesame flour. This product is a no go for our family now. They couldn't even be bothered to warn consumers of the change in recipe. I guess the name fits.

I've always enjoyed this bread including the Whole Wheat one as I have issues with seeded bread (which is in a lot of the organic breads). Looking at recent reviews I'm glad I'm not the only one that was blindsided by another organic "healthy" brand adding in sesame flour so they don't have to comply with the changes. I am allergic to sesame and I'm now extremely frustrated that most breads are containing it. I just want to be able to eat an organic bread without random allergens added in. I guess I'll have to find another organic brand that doesn't add in sesame.

Change to Sesame Flour

I buy this product weekly. Always have it in my kitchen or spare fridge. I'm appalled by the addition of Sesame to this bread purely as a way to get around adherence to a law. It's dangerous and hurts consumers who suffer from this serious allergy (like myself). Shame.

We have such a hard time finding bread that doesn’t contain folic acid AND is sesame free. My son just noticed the new ingredients, thank goodness, before eating. Why the change?

I used to eat so much “light” bread and I made the switch to DK white bread and 1 piece is so satisfying! I love it! In our area we have to buy it frozen, but holds up well.

My family and I love this bread but I never checked the ingredients until now. Organic doesn’t mean good ingredients FYI. Canola oil is a bummer. Smarten up Dave.
