Educational Insights Color by Playfoam Dragon

This dragon-themed craft kit is ideal for keeping little hands busy. My child loves squishing and sculpting with Playfoam so she was eager to get started with this dragon design. This kit comes with all kids need to complete the design including five fun colours of Playfoam, a dragon-themed 'canvas', a orange pen-like sculpting/squishing tool, and a stand. It was ready to use as soon as we opened it. Kids push Playfoam into the design to complete the picture. Children can use their fingers for larger areas, and the orange squisher tool to work Playfoam into the narrower areas of the design. Once complete, place the canvas on the stand and it's ready to display. I liked that it's easy to get going, and it's resuable so when kids get bored with their design, they can scoop out the colours and start again - just use the squisher tool. I also liked that kids can be creative and choose a colour combo they like and my child decided to make the dragon orange and the flames purple. This dragon-themed craft kit would make a great birthday gift or stocking filler, or screen-free way to keep kids busy. A younger child may need some help working Playfoam into the narrower areas, but older children will quickly get the hang of it.

The foam used to put into the frame was sticky but satisfying and would probably be great for children with sensory issues. It took maybe 20 minutes for my daughter to do the entire activity. We have it displayed on our TV stand!

My son is a bit older but boredom through this quarantine time this was a perfect activity for him and I to do. It was super fun and good for all ages from tots to older elementary school children. I was definitely purchase this for another fun activity and will consider purchasing as a gift in the near future.

This kit came with 5 different colors of Playfoam, a dragon tray, and a plastic scoop tool. Being only 4 years old his still has some difficulty with gripping small items and this kit helped. He was able to use the tool that came with this kit and he was able to ball up foam and put it into little compartments of the dragon tray. What was even better, my son was able to work on this independently without difficulty. In addition, this toy is compact so it can easily be taken on the airplane, road trips, in the hotel, etc. One major thing I loved about this is that there are NO MISTAKES! My son could play as he wanted and he could easily change the colors. In addition, as a mom because it was Playfoam, it was super easy to clean up, not like other doughs or foam. This was so much fun, that while it was something I had intended for my four year old, my eight year old begged for his own, as he saw how much fun and loved the end result that his brother had created.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I let my 8 son try this product. He loved it but soon lost interest because it felt like a one time project, like he couldn't re use it. I then let my two other children try, 6 and 4. They showed more interest in it. They played for at least an hour having a great time!

We LOVE play foam! 1) it never dries out! 2) it is time consuming and very engaging 3) it helps with fine motor skills 4) very reasonably priced and 5) they make great gifts! Thank goodness for little crafty ideas like these because during this time where we are very confined to being inside, this was someting my 5 year old daughter loved doing! She could do it by herself and I not have to monitor her. We have done this a couple of different times since first opening them and have changed the colors around. I have since ordered more as we have some birthdays coming up! We HIGHLY recommend!

This was great. I was even wanting to "help" my 6 year old out with the project. I love playfoam and my kids think it is great. It's super easy to clean up and doesn't leave a huge mess. I use it at home and in my classroom. My child loved using it for an art project and being creative. It was a super cute end piece that he loves to display.

Can I just start off by saying, although I bought this for my child, I really wanted it for myself? Looks so much fun and I can see it being just as therapeutic as coloring for adults. This was a hit! It's a perfect road/plane/travel toy! Its zero mess and everything is packaged nicely. My son was able to reuse once he completed the task and put his own colors in where he wanted to.

My son absolutely loves Playfoam! He has difficulty holding crayons and markers at age 5 and our OT has been encouraging playing with foam to build the muscles in his hands. This kit has helped him use not only the tool that comes in the kit but also his little fingers to ball up foam and stuff into little compartments in the dragon tray. My son was able to work on this independently without difficulty. This kit is not only a toy but educational and OT recommended. I got this for my 4 year old and it kept him busy for a full 45 minutes! He was pretty focused on making it look exactly like the photo on the packaging, and surprisingly he was able to do it all by himself. It came with a tool, which he used in the beginning, but it was easier for him to just use his fingers. I like that it isn't messy and it doesn't dry out when left out. It's a great, fun activity for little ones for developing hand-eye coordination. Right now, my son has it displayed proudly on our credenza but he'll have fun taking out the foam and doing it all over again!
