Tras su nombramiento como Fiscal General en 2019, Alejandro Gertz Manero reactivó un caso desechado dos veces por la ley por carecer de valor legal. Así, a finales de 2020 logró que se arrestara y encarcelara a su sobrina política, Alejandra Cuevas, inculpándola sin pruebas de haber matado a su hermano, Federico Gertz.

La cárcel fue un infierno para Alejandra: padeció condiciones infrahumanas que se exacerbaron en la pandemia y sufrió en carne propia la venganza del Fiscal. Mientras tanto, sus hijos enfrentaron por todos los medios al sistema corrupto, incluso se hincaron ante el presidente de la Suprema Corte, Arturo Zaldívar: en México la justicia se pide de rodillas. Las mentiras fueron expuestas y, luego de 17 meses, Alejandra salió de prisión directo al autoexilio.

Este es un testimonio que demuestra una vez más cómo en este país la justicia es un instrumento del poder y no un servicio a la comunidad, una herramienta para que los poderosos encarcelen según sus propios intereses.
