About the Book

A father's raw journal from inside the storm of child loss. Part memoir, part survival guide, with practical Arks to help grieving families and the communities that love them find solid ground.

Book Synopsis

When Matthew and Hannah Efird received a terminal diagnosis for their unborn son Noah, their world was forever altered. What followed were months of fear, prayer, and honest questions that Matthew captured in real time inside a journal. Noah was born on March 7, just days before his due date, and lived for 57.5 hours.

Even Though, We Will is the raw, unfiltered account of that journey, pulled directly from those journals and written from inside the storm. It is not a memoir written years later with polished hindsight. It is a father's account of what it actually feels like to walk toward loss with faith as your only footing.

But this book is more than a story. It is a survival guide.

Structured in three parts, the book moves from raw narrative (Part One: The Waves) to theological grounding (Part Two: The Foundational Ground) to a practical community guide (Part Three: The Community Manual). At the close of each chapter, readers find an "Ark," a tangible, practical tool designed to help grieving families and the communities that love them navigate the flood.

Even Though, We Will is for parents who have received a diagnosis no one should have to receive. It is for families who have buried a child. It is for pastors, counselors, nurses, and friends who want to help but do not know how. And it is for anyone who has stood in a storm and wondered if faith is enough to hold.

Matthew Efird is the co-founder of the Even Though, We Will Foundation, which sends care packages called Noah's Arks to families facing terminal prenatal diagnoses. He is also the host of the Pillars of Purpose Podcast.

Even though the storm is real, we will still stand.
