Review Quotes

This book had me at homemade corn dogs. Give me a nostalgic and bready comfort food that serves a crowd, and I'm yours forever. I love this cookbook--it's both refreshing and real life. Through the stories and recipes that fill its pages, Jen reminds us that feeding the people we love shouldn't be one more thing to perfect or overdo. It's the food itself and the connection it creates that far outlasts what's on the menu. This book is just another extension of all the beautiful ways Jen shares her heart through her story, laughter, and now--luck for us--delicious recipes. -- Joanna Gaines, co-founder, Magnolia

Jen's a real-life mom, a fantastic home cook, and a delightfully hilarious writer, so I already knew I was going to love her cookbook. But let me tell you... I didn't expect to fall in love with it the way I did! In a word: WOW. Every page is so bright and fun, so original and fresh, and the way she categorizes her delicious recipes is both clever and approachable. This cookbook is a serious treasure--a gift to anyone who has people to feed! -- Ree Drummond, New York Times bestselling author of The Pioneer Woman Cooks

Feed These People reads like an invitation to Jen Hatmaker's front porch--cozy, dishy, and full of spice. Just when I think we're settling into truck stop grub (Fried mozzarella sticks! Avocado tacos!) she flips to vacation Bible school (Mushroom and Gruyère tartine! Honey mustard pecan-crusted salmon)--either way I'm singing hymns of praise and tying on my apron. -- Jennifer Garner, actor, food lover, home cook

First of all, I love a home cook! I am one and I learned from the best, my mom, Gwen. Second, the food looks amazing, and I can't wait to dive in! Last and most important, I love the whole vibe of this family: the love, the laughter, the lessons, the honesty. It's a beautiful, real, snapshot into my friend Jen Hatmaker's life. Like the perfect dinner, you'll show up for the food, and you'll stay for the stories. Thanks for inviting me. Love, Trisha. -- Trisha Yearwood, country music legend, host of Trisha's Southern Kitchen, and five-time cookbook author

Feed These People puts people first, and then gives them a fantastic meal--and I'm 100% here for it! Jen celebrates the people around our tables. Trust me, you want Jen's cookbook! -- Melissa d'Arabian, author of Tasting Grace

I'm in love with Jen's no-fuss, stress-free, and big-flavor approach to feeding her loved ones. With comforting recipes seasoned with Jen's trademark wit and humor, this book opens up like a warm hug and invitation to her home kitchen! -- Michelle Tam, New York Times bestselling cookbook author and creator of Nom Nom Paleo

Feed These People is absolutely stunning and makes me crave every recipe on every page. But more important, I echo Jen's heart and how it is filled by feeding the people she loves around her table. -- Danielle Walker, bestselling cookbook author and wellness expert

Feed These People is for all of us scattered, hungry home cooks doing our best to trick the ones we love into thinking we're wizards in the kitchen. Jen makes us believe we really can do this and gives us the plan. Cackling and connecting and leaving the dishes until morning--this cookbook is a national treasure. I can't wait to make a mess of my copy. -- Shannan Martin, author of Starts with Hello and The Ministry of Ordinary Places

Finally, a cookbook for normals! The recipes are for people craving repeat-worthy, flavor-packed, very extra (without being fussy) meals. So basically, this is a book of magic. Cooking magic! Jen Hatmaker's approach to feeding the people we love is a whole masterclass in everyday cooking and making your kitchen your own. Feed These People has a permanent spot in my kitchen, it is my new go-to book of foods and flavors. And magic. -- Bri McKoy, author of Come & Eat: A Celebration of Love and Grace Around the Everyday Table

Jen Hatmaker has been sharing recipes for years, so I’m so happy she finally wrote a cookbook! Every recipe is written with a story full of Jen’s humor and you’ll find yourself snorting with laughter as you cook. I’ve made several recipes, and my standout favorite is Cacio e Pepe, which sounds fancy, but is super easy with Jen’s guidance. Fig and Ricotta Tartine and Corn and Leek Bisque are a couple more outstanding dishes I tried. Long story short, buy it! If you struggle with finding new answers for that daily question of what’s for dinner, buy it! If you’re bored with the same old dishes, buy it! If you just want something funny and visually stunning to read, buy it!

Get ready to laugh, feel at home and like you fit right in! Jen Hatmaker’s Feed These People Cookbook is one you won’t be disappointed in. Written in a laid back, hilarious and sometimes sassy manner, Jen’s focus is more on the gathering of people, than the need to be a fancy tool welding sou chef kitchen expert. If you aren’t familiar with Jen, you’ll soon be giving her the status of BFF, as she weaves stories of her people, mishaps and just don’t care moments amongst the pages of recipes and photos. Jam packed flavour, few special ingredients, east to follow AND make recipes, leave you drooling as you flip through the pages. You’ll be gobbling up these recipes figuratively and literally!

Best Cookbook Ever!

If you buy only one cookbook this year, make it Jen Hatmaker's Feed These People. This cookbook is fun, funny, and the recipes are delicious. I am working my way through them and I have not found one I did not like. (But start with the French Toast Bake because it is DIVINE.) This is a great cookbook for people who may enjoy the idea of cooking, but are slightly intimidated by some of the complicated recipes found in cookbooks by professional chefs. Jen breaks everything down into easy to follow instructions that read more like she's right there telling you how she prepares this recipe. In true Jen Hatmaker style, she doesn't get fancy (I absolutely love that she flat out tells you to use rotisserie chicken and store bought pie dough for her chicken pot pie); these are real recipes for real people. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

This is the most fun cookbook I have ever read! Yes, read, because it reads like a book. SO, even if you don’t like to cook, you will enjoy this cookbook. I received an advanced reader copy and have cooked my way through it over the past several weeks. One of the things I love about this cookbook is that Jen writes the recipes but encourages you to make them your own! Don’t like a certain flavor, leave it out or replace it with one that you do like. Many of her recipes tell you to use whatever you have in your refrigerator…use up those leftovers you would have ended up throwing out! She also uses ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen, so no need to go spend money on a bottle of something you will never use again. I loved this book and think it’s one that anyone will enjoy!

It’s amazing!!! My family has literally loved everything so far!!! The pork sliders, the French dip subs, the house sauce, the Italian subs, the chicken pot pie….. errything!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I have NEVER had a cookbook that I actually read cover to cover before!! I’ve laughed so hard while reading it and it totally disarmed my “um I don’t think I can cook” persona and I became a “Welp let’s just give it a go” kinda Mom! I’m literally addicted to planning my meals now!! The leftovers are unbelievable and I feel like cooking actually IS a way I can love my family better. Thanks Jen for giving me the directions and inspiration to try!!! I am so excited to try everything!!

I don't think I have ever had so much fun reading a cookbook as I have with this cookbook. It's engaging and relatable with stories about her friends and family, commentary on ingredients, and practical use of things like leftovers in creative ways. My family has had a ton of fun testing out the recipes. It's super easy and encouraged to make the recipes your own adjusting something here or there to account for our preferences without worrying about messing up the recipe. I HIGHLY recommend this book regardless of cooking skills. I even got an extra copy for a friend who doesn't cook just to read it because it's so entertaining.
