    Paddle hits as expected. One has to hit extremely precise with this paddle. Even with added weight to stablize the paddle it still gets wonky. However, if one nails the sweet spot with this paddle. It's GUCCI! It's extremely lightwight and has that whipping action. I'd categorize this paddle as a power paddle and with weight enhancements it makes it an above average power paddle.

    Honestly thought it would have more pop and power but it really doesn’t. A lot of my power shots feel more soft. The paddle sometimes even vibrates. Only good thing I guess is probably the slicing/curve shots because of the carbon traction.

    I hit hard and have lots of spin and control and for me this just does not do it. But that's just me. The 505 is my go to paddle I've had it for years and it's my go to paddle.

    My go to paddle

    Mine came in at 7. 7 oz so i had to buy a pack of 3g lead bars to build up to 8. 9, stock form is unplayable bc its too light, in stock form i would swing fast but ball deflected slowly, end cap weights are a must have, its unplayable without either the 6g or 9g end cap, the sound on contact is high pitch, nice and loud, i added 9g on each side and 9g on top, poppy with nice control, theres is a good amount of vibration due to thin core but I view this as a good thing because there's tactile feedback for dinks, i prefer this 10mm core to the 15mm and 16mm cores on my other paddles.

    I was reluctant to trade in my Gamma Typhoon, as it gave me good control. I finally relented to try raw carbon, and with this Obsidian Paddle, Gamma prove they are a great great technology company because now I have power, spin and control in a beautifully balanced paddle that is enhanced with Gamma unique and "grippy" honeycomb wrap. At drills today even my coach noticed how much this enhanced my game!!!!

    Finally retired my Gamma Typhoon - reluctantly as I always felt it gave me great control. I'm so glad I did!! This raw carbon Obsidian paddle gives me the ability for spin, power and touch. Gamma really are a tech company, and prove you can have it all. On top of egis there grips are second to none, handling the humid Florida conditions with no slip. It's really easy to change from forehand to backhand with the paddle balance and grip quality. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!!!
