A: The GDFStudio Sims Vintage Spindle Wood Platform Bed Frame (Target) is designed to be used as a platform bed with slats, so it is intended to support a mattress without a box spring. While you could physically place a mattress and box spring on top, it is not recommended, because it would likely make the bed too high and may not fit properly within the frame’s design or headboard clearance.
