Q: Is this pork bacon? If so, why is it not specified anywhere on the packaging, including the ingredients?
submitted by Betty - 26 days ago
A: Good Morning Betty, this is pork bacon. It does not specify on the package because pork is the standard identity of bacon, so it is not required to be listed.

Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend

Be aware, this is NOT PRECOOKED. It is raw bacon. I thought it was the precooked bacon that you nuke just to warm it. Instead it comes raw in a plastic pouch. It does not cook evenly, so some areas are burnt while others are half raw. If I wanted raw bacon, I could have gotten a whole pound for less than this product. I requested a refund and do not recommend this product.

I have been buying this bacon for quite sometime now. Recently, the bags have been popping and the bacon doesn't cook. Even with additional time. What is the problem?

When I first tried this product it was good and cooked well. the last few times I have used it the slices were almost all fat, even looked like scraps. in some packages a couple of pieces were good, the other 2 were full of fat and the package wouldn't cook right. I ended up cooking the pieces separately. the prices went up and the quality went down. won't buy it again.

Only 1 out of the 4 packets cooked evenly and were edible. The other 3 packages popped open during cooking and the 2 inner pieces cooked and the outer 2 pieces were not cooked. In order to cook the outer pieces, the inner pieces were burned. I threw 3 packets in the garbage. This product was a waste of money.

This is my favorite bacon and I buy four boxes per month. However in this box there are the tiniest pieces I have ever seen. If this has been my first time buying it I would never again.

I used to love this brand! The last two boxes I bought had bags that would pop in the middle of cooking—I tossed one box because I was afraid the bags had been opened. But the box I have now had my first bag pop at the 50% done mark plus the size of the bacon was half of what it used to be. What happened??

I purchase this product regularly and for the most part enjoy it. Please fix the bags. They pop early in the cooking process. It affects the quality of the bacon and makes a mess of my microwave

Trying to pan fry bacon strips. Could hardly separate and when I did it stretched into horrible pieces. Bacon was hard to cook because of its stretched, ripped, extremely thin condition. What happened to the quality of your bacon. You need to change the label from "black label" which gives the impression of good quality.

This product is perfect for myself. I use it often, but lately the bag has been popping before the bacon finishes cooking. This does change the outcome of the bacon. It's overcooked when this happens. Just check the quality of the bags.
Excellent!

The trick is not to overcook it. Not every microwave is the same. Cooking four slices for 2 minutes in the pouch produced excellent results. The bacon does not burn and shrivel up, and tastes great. I have enjoyed many time.

I was skeptical at first thinking there was no way this product would be successful in the microwave, however, i was wrong. I will no longer make bacon any other way than the microwave with Hormel bacon. Its crispy, melts in your mouth and tastes great. The cleanup is extremely simple and easy no longer have to deal with grease from the pan or air fryer. Kudos to the Hormel team for perfecting the bacon cooking process.
I would not buy this again it was 70% to 75 % pure white fat

I love this bacon. It's the real thing. The mess is contained in the packaging. It's come out perfectly for me every time I've used it. I prefer it to the already cooked variety.

What happened? This used to be the best medium cost prepackaged bacon, but wow it is so salty now. Cooked up like country ham slices and left the skillet coated in salt.

I found it impossible to cook it without burning it or undercooking it - usually both. The centers would be blackened and the ends raw. I tried various power levels, timing, etc and nothing worked well.

Taste is pretty good but the thick cut bacon is a joke. You could read a newspaper through it. If you want regular sliced bacon, great, if you want thick cut, keep shopping.

I bought Hormel Bacon because I thought it was a well known brand with high quality standards. When cooking most of it had to be thrown out. From reading all the one and two star reviews I would think you would run to the processing plant and see what was going on and what changed. I will avoid your brand until I know the quality has returned.
