Q: does this have a solid enough base so that it can stand on its own in a closet?

A: Hi miriamcharney. Not really. It is softsided from top to bottom, with a padded back panel. It would hang nicely off a straight backed chair, but it doesn't stand-up on its own unless it's already filled. Hope that helps!

Smelled so bad that I could smell it through the packaging. Washed and dried it- there was zero improvement. Stitching on straps looks to be of poor quality. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

One star for quality of fabric: heavy duty canvas. Took all other stars because, is not as big as the $7 cheaper version and when I was lifting the first bag to put on shoulder the strap came off completely. So I got the second bag and made it to the second floor when it fell off one shoulder. It hurt my other shoulder when all the weight was on that side. The issue is that unlike other heavy duty bags which are sown very well, with like 6” strap sown on the back end of each strap, this one is only sown once around about 1 inch square. If you’re gonna buy I’d recommend you sowing the strap with heavy duty thread. For $20 I would expect better quality.

I have only used once since receiving. The bag seems to be made really well and it works perfectly for transporting laundry via 2 wheels. No regrets.

Well-made bag; however it does NOT stand up. It crumples when you let go. You would need 2 hooks to hold it up by the pull-strings. Disappointed because it is a nice fabric and size.

Unfortunately it is made that way for small space storage and then when it is full it should stand up due to the contents inside.

It seems nice, but actually we are about to return it because it has a defect, a big hole in the bottom 2 inches across where it isn't sewn.

I find it much easier to carry laundry down in our apt. building with a strap. This is spacious and durable so far! The drawstring is kind of bulky but I am not going far so I just tie it in a big knot. Love the pocket in the front to keep extra dryer sheets. Happy with this purchase!
