Meet Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson). He's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But when a government hibernation experiment goes awry, Bowers awakens in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming that he's become the smartest guy on the planet. Now it's up to an average Joe to get human evolution back on track.

My husband really wanted me to see this. It turned out to be a preview of our dystopian future, disguised as a raunchy comedy. This movie is way too preescient. I think everyone should watch this and consider it a cautionary tale. It's quite funny in spots, but it scared the heck out of me.

It's really a stupid movie - until you realize it has become a documentary.

The idea that the public could be dumbed down to its lowest level is nothing new. It has been discussed before and this movie takes that idea to the limit. The basic plot I liked as it took 2 people who had been in a suspended state for 500 years wake up to a strange world where smartness can get you killed. The humor was geared more for the 20 something crowd as it seemed to have been written by a bunch of college students as a prank that got out of control and on to the screen. Parts of the movie made sense based on what is happening during the current (2016) election. The movie could have been a lot better had the language been tamed down as it does get crude which causes some cringe moments. I'll admit that I actually liked it more than I normally do for that kind of film and that was due to the concept alone. Watch it if you liked Caddy Shack or Blazing Saddles or Office Space.
