JBL Charge 5 (Bluetooth Only):
This version primarily relies on Bluetooth connectivity. You can absolutely use it without the JBL Portable app.
However, the JBL Portable app enhances the experience by offering features like:
Firmware updates.
Equalizer (EQ) adjustments.
PartyBoost control (for connecting multiple JBL speakers).
So, while the app is optional for basic Bluetooth playback, it adds valuable functionality.
JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi:

Not the JBL of yesterday!
I’ve own JBL products in the past that were top notch. This item does not meet the standard. Not enough power. It will do but since I had it personalized I can’t return it. The personalization is really good. Cheers!

Great sound quality
I have had the smaller version and thoroughly enjoy using it in my truck as the dash unit is damaged. Is quite a bit larger than my older unit but seems to have better sound quality

Most durable speaker!
I bought this JBL last year and brought it on my deployment—very popular speaker for military. During my deployment we were attacked constantly and my building was hit. It then rained for 2 days straight. When it was safe I recovered my speaker, let it dry out, and it still worked. This brought the morale up not only for myself, but also for the other 100 military cops just trying to survive with me. I’m forever a lifelong JBL customer due to this and would highly recommend this product to anyone!

Last speaker I bought (not JBL) was fine for a couple of years but then got very tacky and couldn’t hold a connection. I like things to last longer than that. JBL seems more robust and hopefully will.

Let me tell you, first of all, it does the job it plays music as it should and all that good stuff but the really impressive thing about it is that it truely is waterproof and 10/10 resistant!!!😳🤯 like no way it made it through a fire, perhaps it didn’t catch on fire itself but it was in a room that did and it made it out just fine!! It rained all night so it got soaking wet due to the building no longer having a roof 👀 and once we got it out it dried real quick, charged it a little and there you go working like nothing had happened 😳🫣 I had to come here and leave a review without anyone asking because man this is one less thing we have to worry about buying after that incident and music is life can’t go without it at work 👷🏻♀️ definitely recommending it to family and friends or gifting from now on 😍🎁 1000/10 👌🏼

I had a lot wrote out but I backed out and it all deleted. I’ll make it shorter this time lol These speakers are hands down the best portable speakers! Worth every single cent! I’ve had 3 of the smaller portable ones and I’ve had the flip they are wonderful little speakers for the size. I’ve also had the Charge 4 big sound for the size and money. I have that one to my son. I’ve now graduated up to the Charge 5 and I own two of them. All I can say is Wow wow wow yes buy it, you won’t regret it! I’ll never buy another brand speaker again. They are truly waterproof too by the way mine have been submerged a few times and rained on. I washed them in the sink after taking them to the beach as well so trust they will be good as new if they get wet. Best speakers 100%

Very cool that you can personalize a speaker. Great for brand promotion on a really nice product. 5 star on the sound. Unfortunately- the print wasn’t quite as expected- small blemishes where the ink looks like it missed.
