• LIGHT: Given their origins in the shade far below the canopy of the forest, Selby’s adapt well to low light. To see faster growth speeds, give your Selby access to bright, indirect sunlight. But be aware: too much direct sunlight on your plant’s foliage could lead to discoloration or burns.
• WATER: Water your Selby at least once a week but check the soil before watering. Selby’s like to be moist, but not soggy. If the top 2 inches of your Selby are dry, go ahead and give it a drink. If not, then wait a little bit longer before watering. Check soil moisture regularly and adjust watering schedule as needed to prevent root rot.
• TEMPERATURE: As tropical plants, Selby’s prefer warm climates. Temperatures of 65⁰F -90⁰F are ideal, although your plant can survive temperatures as chilly as 40⁰F without suffering major damage. Prolonged exposure to low temperatures could prove lethal to your Selby, so moving it indoors if there’s a chance of frost or freezing is a must.
• FERTILIZER: During the spring and summer, your Selby will appreciate being fed a slow-release fertilizer 1-2 times. Once the winter months hit and your Selby’s growth slows, you shouldn’t need to worry about extra feedings.
