Maui Jim Hookipa Rimless Sunglasses

great light weight and crystal clear vision. like the feeling while wearing on face, but really like how well they also stay on your hat when not wearing on face. Maui jim makes and excellent product

I returned them. The lenses were so small. They didn’t even cover my eyeballs and it’s not like I have a big face. They seemed like they were made for a child.

I love these sunglasses! The Maui Rose lenses are not only extremely protective and comfortable, but the brilliancy of colors is amazing! Also, I was concerned about them being too dark on a cloudy day, but I wore them playing golf going in and out of sun and shadows with no problem at all. I would recommend them to everyone!

I was looking for a pair of wrap around sunglasses to wear when running. The objectives of the glasses were to 1) block some of the bright Southern California sun, 2) block the wind from getting to my eyes, 3) not bounce as I ran, and 4) stay up on my nose as I got sweaty during the run. Based on the fact that the Ho'Okipa model was recommended by Maui Jim as a sunglasses that was designed for running, I bought a pair. Right away, I could tell that they were a bit wide for my somewhat narrow face. Once outside and running, I found the fit to be superb as far as blocking the sun, not bouncing, and staying up on my nose. However, I did find that any small breeze snuck by either the outside or bottom of the lenses to the extent that I found my eyes watering as I ran. I quickly tired of this and decided to do some further research. I found that Maui Jim made a similar model, Banyans, that was designed to fit a narrower face and, in addition, had lenses that were both taller (deeper) and wrapped further around the face than the Ho'Okipas. So I ordered a pair. They were great. They did everything the Ho'Okipas did, plus they blocked the wind excellently. BTW, I bought the Blue Hawaii lenses with the 2.50 reader option. The readers are great for my older eyes and allow me to see the small text on my running watch easily. If you choose to order readers with yours, be sure you check with your eye doctor to make sure that the reader power you order matches your need. My actual need was for 2.75, but since that was not available, I had to make do with 2.5. It's hard to tell the difference.

First pair lasted 33 years and we still have them.

Favorite sunglasses, even bought a second pair as the fit is so comfortable.

I've been buying the ho'okipa model for a very long time. They fit my big, round head just right. At least that was the case up to the pair I just bought. They are tighter and more curved. I can see where they may technically be the same size, but the shape is different and it's uncomfortably tight. I suppose I can try to take them to an authorized dealer to have them fitted better, but unless they heat them up and actually bend them, I don't see how they're going to feel "right." Every other pair I've bought (at least six) have fit well out of the box without needing any adjustment.

I have had about 5 or 6 pair over last 30 years. They are consistent with quality as ever. Once you go Maui you won't wear any other brand.

They’re pretty but…I wasn’t expecting such lightweight plastic for the price they cost. They’re so lightweight I’m scared to wear them they feel very fragile. I wouldn’t recommend these as everyday sun glasses. Next time I’ll be sure to go to a store to see and feel the glasses before I buy.

There was a rattle in them when I moved them. Sent back and now awaiting them to send me a new pair. Whenever that will be. Also disappointing that the new sunglasses no longer come with a case to store them in. I like to protect them when I’m not using them. Just very disappointed in this whole process so far.

Great glasses, however the MJ virtual assistant said they were RXable and so did my optician. It turns out they are not RXable.

Best sunglasses ever!! Had similar pair that lasted for 10+ years and are still good but wanted new. Had some repairs done over the years but great company to work with. Love new 🆕 nes.
