Great Puzzle! The only thing that could have made it better was if they made Alaska larger b/c my daughter thought Texas was the largest state based on this puzzle.

    Terrible state representations

This map is not an accurate representation of state shapes, particularly the delmarva peninsula, which encompasses delaware maryland and Virginia. Delawares shape and placement is completely wrong. My kids were disappointed to see their state so poorly portrayed.

    Their First Whole Country

My 4-year-old granddaughter is still trying to understand about maps, Alaska and Hawaii. She likes the puzzle but needs to grow into it a bit more. Her 6-yr old sister got it put together quickly. It is a big set of nicely-printed on heavy cardboard, 50 states, with enough bright blue ocean around to help set up the perimeter. It comes in a nice strong box, easy to throw everything in, put the top on it and shelve it. The pieces are big -- California is as long as my forearm, inner elbow to inner wrist. The pieces are brightly, primary-colored with state name, one (capital) city, and one picture of special state attribute. ( By second grade kids will be able to read state names and maybe quiz each other on state icons.) Texas and California get two. Vermont to Connecticut haven't room of aught but capital city. Utah is a skier and Nevada has a snake despite some of the most spectacular rock formations and gorges but, hey. It is a perfect beginner USA puzzle, and it is 3' x 2' -- big. It will last and the pieces have a good chance of staying together in that strong box. It is a very quiet toy. See if the adults can do it first, or the kids will lose interest.

    DOES NOT STAY TOGETHER

We love Melissa & Doug products. I love how much the boys learn from THIS puzzle. I HATE how it falls apart with the tiniest touches. I understand making the pieces the actual shapes of the states and that it won't fit together perfectly, but the frame itself with normal puzzle pieces is warped and will not hold in place. We have placed heavy things over it for multiple days, multiple times to try and flatten it and it has not fixed it. I just have to throw it away.

Love M&D products, totally disappointed at your in graphic designers interpretation of my state, NJ. I mean the sides and angles of our state in this loose illustration aren't even going the right way! This is not even a close representation of our state and this is supposed to be a learning tool? How does this get passed QC and put into production like this? Ugh disappointed.

I bought this to teach my daughter what each state looks like. With that being said, upon putting it together I came across the piece that includes West Virginia. Unless I've missed some critical part in American history, West Virginia has an Eastern panhandle and a northern panhandle. Being that my hometown is in the northern panhandle, this poses a bit of an issue when trying to accurately teach my daughter. If the main purpose you're purchasing this puzzle is to educate, choose something that more accurately represents the states.

The best U. S. map floor puzzle I've seen. I got this for my 7 and 9 year old granddaughters. They love studying the states and capitals. It's great to have them learning and off their iPads is a definite plus.
