Noh Age - The Long Ear (Vinyl)

The Long Ear is the debut album on Kou Records by Noh Age - Charmaine Lee (parabolic microphone, feedback, voice), John McCowen (contrabass clarinet, Bb clarinet, recorder), and Li-Chin LI (sheng). Recorded live at Brooklyn Recording in March 2026 and produced by Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Oneohtrix Point Never), the album turns a Cold War surveillance instrument - the parabolic microphone- into a performing body, routed through four vintage tube amplifiers. The dish hunts resonances transmitted across space, igniting feedback as a fourth performer with it's own unpredictable agency. Spectral music at it's most visceral- in the lineage of Grisey, Saariaho, and Dumitrescu, but arriving from the stakeout, the listening post, the wire.
