A “deal” that delivers less product, worse texture, and poor shelf placement
The buy-one-get-one-50%-off promotion sounds appealing until you examine what you actually receive. Two 8 oz bags cost me $6.28—about 39¢ per ounce. Publix regularly offers two 12 oz bags for $8.99 during its BOGO promotion—about 37¢ per ounce. In other words, Target’s supposed deal provides less product at a higher unit price. Price might be forgivable if the quality were better. It wasn’t. These plantain strips had a slightly stale, cardboard-like texture, while the 12 oz bags I normally buy from Publix consistently taste fresher. I can’t determine whether this resulted from older inventory, storage conditions, or handling, but the difference was noticeable. Target also placed them on the very bottom shelf of the chip aisle, making the product unnecessarily difficult to find and physically awkward to reach—especially for shoppers with limited mobility. A promotional sign does not automatically create value. Here, Target offered smaller bags, a higher effective price per ounce, inferior freshness, and poor accessibility. I’m unlikely to purchase this product from Target again.

Different shape
Nice alternative to the round plantain chips, tastes just as delicious and not too salty. You don’t have to reach in the bag…I mean bowl :) as often since they’re bigger than chips. They go fast in our home!
