  • A: Hi, The GSM (Grams per square meter also measured in ounces or ounces per square yard) is the weight of the flannel fabric. The 100% Cotton fabric is woven in wider width and then finished into narrower width. This enhances the stability and durability and increases the weight of the fabric. The narrower finished width generally means higher weight and better fabric. After the fabric is finished into narrower width and before stitching, the fabric is napped or brushed on both sides. During the napping / brushing process, the weight becomes lower since there are now less fibers / threads on the surface of the finished fabric. Napping / Brushing enhances the fabrics, creates the plush look, and create the warmth effect in the fabric. This is the finished weight after all these processes. This is the reason it cannot be calculated in the threads per inch. Thanks.
