After breaking her wing as a baby, Prudence can no longer fly, but a passing comet encourages her to overcome these challenges as she braves the journey to the top of the Great Mountain.Book Synopsis
Prudence dreams of flight, though not the kind that requires wings, but rather flight into space. An aspiring journey about dreams, determination, and the power of sisterhood.
After breaking her wing as a baby, Prudence can no longer fly like the rest of her family, but that has never stopped her from dreaming of flight in a different sense. Every night, Prudence and her sister watch the stars and dream of becoming astronauts. When she learns that a comet will be passing overhead, she is determined to watch from the top of the Great Mountain, even if her childhood injury means flying is out of the question.
The hike won't be easy, but as an aspiring astronaut, Prudence refuses to miss her chance at seeing Comet Paulina blaze across the sky. Telescope in hand, she sets out on the adventure of a lifetime, hopeful that her determination is enough to overcome the obstacles in her path.
Véronique Alarie and Gabrielle Lisa Collard write with a poetic sense of wonder and determination. They have chosen to donate their royalties to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, as Prudence pays tribute to young cancer patients and their courageous siblings who accompany them in their fight.
Catherine Petit's illustrations are done in bold blues and purples vibrantly represent Prudence's courage and determination.
