#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved worldwide bestseller Ready Player One, the near-future adventure that inspired the blockbuster Steven Spielberg film.

AN UNEXPECTED QUEST. TWO WORLDS AT STAKE. ARE YOU READY?

Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday's contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything.

Hidden within Halliday's vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous--and addictive--than even Wade dreamed possible.

With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest--a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.

And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who'll kill millions to get what he wants.

Wade's life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

Lovingly nostalgic and wildly original as only Ernest Cline could conceive it, Ready Player Two takes us on another imaginative, fun, action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again.

Review Quotes

Praise for Ready Player Two

"Many people think Ernest Cline writes about the future, but what he's really doing is writing about the complexities of the world we live in today. Whether you're black, white, woman, or man, this story is about you and what gaming has meant in your life. We already live in the OASIS, and the journey of life is trying to find as many of those Easter eggs along the way!"--Trevor Noah

This Was so Good

I enjoyed this one as much as the first. I loved all the John Hughes stuff and the Lord of the Rings. These are both things I love. Wade kinda made me mad at first. I loved getting to see the characters I loved from the first book. I would recommend this.

Such a huge letdown

Oh, no. I really enjoyed Ready Player One, though at the time I was just getting back into reading and was realllllly nice with my ratings, so I think it was maybe more of a 4 than a 5. But anyway. I was excited for this one, and I don't know that I could be more let down. Wade sucks, and we all knew this, but for some reason in this one, it was all that was happening in the beginning and I was cringing at *everything* he was doing. He starts off discussing his search for the seven shards (a new quest) and it takes 40% or so of the book for him to find the first one and to meet his new "powerful rival" mentioned in the synopsis. I was. So. Bored. He sits there doing uncomfortable things with his invisibility cloak. Then new rival shows up, action starts happening, and...I low-key hated it? Wasn't a great rival, not a lot of interest is happening, though there is some added focus on how quickly the shards need to be found. Everything was too easy and full of "aha! I happen to have this item that solves this exact problem!" and I get they're inside a virtual world, and that's kinda how it works but mehhhh. The end, was even worse. I wish the last few pages hadn't even happened. I almost DNFd it, and if you're on the fence, I would let it go, I don't feel like it got that much better.
