Singer C5980Q Patchwork Plus Sewing and Quilting Machine

I use my machine daily! It is portable if I need to take it to my quilting group. It’s VERY user friendly even for beginners. I have recommended it to fellow quilters looking for a new machine. I especially love the fancy stitches I can use for my quilt borders and hem. Great value for the price. No complaints. I love sewing on this machine.

I got this machine and I have been having issues. Tension is always wrong. The store where I got it is closed and cannot take it back. What can I do!!

I like the ease and functionality of this model.

I haven't used it yet. Still reading the owner's manual. Two presser feet are missing; cording. foot M, &even feed foot.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since the day I got my machine I had issues. It would skip stitches in folds of just cotton, this is a quilt machine after all!!!! And now 6 months into my machine as I was trying to accept it as is m, I am now facing electrical issues it just keeps on sewing after I let the pedal go. What a nightmare so much for the warranty, nearest center is 460 miles away! Now I have to spend money on shipping it there and getting it back to me. Very disappointed with my purchase. Looks like singer doesn’t match up to its name anymore.

As a newbie quilter I treated myself to a new Singer Patchwork Plus machine. It has many of the features that will be of benefit for all my quilting requirements. It was great value for a good machine, with on exception. The walking foot does not have a guide that extends far enough forward to be of any value. A very poor selection of a walking foot to be included with a machine that is for quilting. I already have purchased a new walking foot and am awaiting its arrival. Thankfully the new foot was not expensive.

This is a lot of sewing machine for the price - great value! I find it easy to understand (print out the manual!) and it sews beautifully. I've played around quite a bit with a variety of stitches and feet, and am so pleased. The motor is reasonably quiet and runs smoothly. The foot pedal is sensitive enough to start and stop with ease, but not so sensitive that it takes off on you or tires out your leg. The many accessories included are a bargain. My greatest challenge has been putting on the walking foot; it's a tight fit, but once it's on, it works great. I have also taken this machine to a class at my local quilting shop and found it to be very portable. Highly recommended.

I have loved this machine since day 1!! It was out of time briefly which I quickly learned to fix myself and off to sew we go!!!!

I just bought this machine a few days ago. I love everything it except the pressure foot . It seems like it site too close to the plate . There is not enough room to slid your quilt sandwich under it with out tugging and pulling .

I bought the Singer Patchwork Plus C5980Q machine 10 days ago, and love everything about it. It was simple to unpack and set up. The user manual that I downloaded has helped me with any questions I have had. Last machine I purchased was in 1985 and has none of the cool features i am seeing in this machine. I couldn't be happier.

My wife is very happy with her new sewing machine. It sew's everything including heavy denim.

I bought this machine a couple of weeks ago. It is well made and sturdy. So far it works pretty well. This is not a complete review as I have not been able to test all the functions and different stitches. It would be nice if the manual for this machine model was readily available. The cloth cover that comes with the machine is really flimsy and is soo big and loose in covering the machine. There is no cover for the extension table. It would have been nice if it came with the canvas cover like the patchwork 7285Q that covers both the machine and has a pouch where you can store the extension table. As this machine is also for quilting, a lot of thread is required. It would have been great to make the spool pin have the ability to accommodate the big quilting thread spools. I tried to put one on and it did not work out well ans it kept getting caught on the plastic. Despite these few things, I give it 4 stars. It is a work in progress and I will continue to learn this machine and give it more of a chance.

II'm very pleased with this machine. Although I didn’t know that they no longer come with a printed manual. I am having a lot of triouble with Singer to obtain a pdf manual for downloading ! There are features that I can not accomplish without some information.
