Out of the box review - Singer 6180 Brilliance
When it works it's good. We had to watch youtube video after video to figure it out. At least they are available if you search enough. It comes with no manual just a sheet on how to load thread, wind a bobbin and a few other little details. Not very intuitive for a brand new machine. The machine we have is 6180 brilliance, and it had no tools with it. Just a few needles, 2 bobbins and thread cutter. Compared to our original Kenmore, this thing has harder to reach threading areas. To wind a bobbin, it worked but the video helped. To thread the machine to and through the needle was a pain again compared to the Kenmore. The areas are hard to reach and see. The automatic needle threader was bent and after 2 hours i had to take a magnifying glass to see that this very minuute hook that is suppose to go thru the needle was bent. I carefully readjusted it back with my jewlers tools....man what a pain., but it works "now". After we got it all set up the C4 error occurred right away on the basic stitch. Found out via the video that the bobbin holder has a screw that was about 1/2 turn too tight causing it to bind and not work. the machine sounded terrible. Once we got that working, sewing has been great. Out of box issues: no manual - had to go on line, watch videos for 3 darn hours, bobbin holder too tight, needle was so tight a screwdriver had to be used really hard to remove it, the needle threader was not aligned from the factory. So bottom line, once you figure out how to correct what we think should be factory perfect settings out of the box ready to use, was hampered by not having them set. We got it working, but man, it was a battle. hope it works for years, but we are sceptical. Very respectfully, A & L

Not exactly handy.
I bought this 6180 Singer sewing machine 4 days ago. I was in a bit of a panic because I have a big project I'm working on and my previous machine - a Singer 7258 Stylist has a gear sprocket that is broken. I'm not sure that I can get it fixed or how long that would take. This new machine is a little disappointing. The bobbin is front loading and not convenient to get to. You can't see how much thread is left on it without removing the top part of the machine base and opening the door where the bobbin is held and removing the bobbin. The needle is difficult to change also. You almost need two people to do it due to the fact that part of what holds the needle in falls apart when you unscrew it. Putting the needle and it's holder back together is difficult. I regret not doing more research before purchasing this machine.

Singer not so brilliant!
I’m finding a hard time with needle threader. It feels very fragile and never got it to work properly. I finally broke it last week. Cheap plastic. Maxine sews good.

Don’t buy
Sad that they call this a Singer! Didn’t reverse, foot off the pedal, kept running, sounded horrible!

When it works it's good
If it didn't trap my top thread so much I'd like the machine better. I just bought one less than a month ago. It worked okay at first but now it constantly traps the top thread no matter how many times I rethread and clean the machine. I wanted to up my game with my stitching. This machine just makes me want to go back to my old one and say forget it. Only reason it's not 1 star is because I got through at least 3 projects but my current project took longer than usual because of the top thread issue.

Jams constantly
The machine constantly jams when sewing. I have to take the bobbin out and pull threads out of it. I get a C4 error code EVERY time I use it. So frustrating.

Great beginner workhorse!
ive had this machine for ~10 years now? been using it nonstop for the last ~5 years. its really a great machine for the price. i have gotten to know it and how to ensure success for both of us. the machines quirks are that you have to hold the tails when starting to sew. also, you should be careful with knits and practice on scraps to get the tension right. i adjust the bobbin tension often and know how to change it for different fabrics. this just takes practice and time. otherwise. i have sewn leather, jeans, silk, knits, wovens, and anything in between including mesh, and sport fabrics such as ripstop nylon, and many zippers. i have made bags, pants, dresses, tops, masks, etc. It has done everything for me and i am so happy to have it as my machine. this machine is exactly enough for beginners with its semi-automatic threading, automatic buttonhole, the numerous stitches, and feet it comes with. its really great!

Good basic sewing machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good basic sewing machine I would recommend to anyone learning to do basic sewing. The instructions were easy to read and follow to set up and get started. Everything works smoothly and can perform all basic sewing functions.

Brilliance and Ease of Use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This home addition has been superior to bringing me a ease of use expierence with sewing various fabrics like torn jeans and even showing my little kids how to make little pillows, with my supervision of course. The digital menu really makes it so simple now to really understand the setup and how to really get the project started to completed. There is a menu that helps out with understanding how to use it for what you are trying to accomplish. The size is great and it is not heavy at all. Easy to place on a table top. Great instructions included with safety guidelines. I see that the insert of the thread has become much easier now as well. The visual on the machine is extremely beneficial. Great packaging and safe to transport as it come in perfectly fine. Singer is the leader and can. never go wrong with this brand. Includes all warranty information for registration as well inside the box,.

The best
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never used a sewing machine in my life. But I really wanted to try it as a new hobby. This little guy was pretty easy to set up and use. The light above the needle is great and bright. To get to different stitches you have to use the up button BUT if you go past the one you want you have to go through all of them all over again which does suck sometimes!

How times have changed!!
It’s a decent machine, but you must have a computer, printer, ink and more than 70 sheets of paper to get a full owners manual in several different languages even though you only want English. I was willing to print the English pages however there were multiple languages on a lot of the pages. Singer no longer sends a manual when you purchase it’s sewing machines.

Swinger Quality Nothing can beat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had been using a Singer sewing machine for a long time, but recently I switched to another brand. However, I found that the quality and build of the new brand did not quite satisfy me. That changed when I got my hands on the Singer 6180 Brilliance. Initially, I thought it would be an ordinary stitching device, but it proved me wrong. This machine offers a wide range of advanced stitching patterns and makes the task incredibly easy. After experiencing the performance of the Singer 6180 Brilliance, I have no intention of going back to any other brand. It's always Singer for me
