Brother XM2701 27-Stitch Sewing Machine

Great starter machine! Simple stitching for a new cosplayer. A bit of a pain to set up without the manual every time, but we have youtube for that.

I love this sewing machine, it works great and is super easy to work with for all of my projects.

I didn’t have the highest expectations of this given that it’s one of the cheaper machines you can buy, and I was just looking to see if I liked sewing. Well, I have been very pleasantly surprised. I’ve been able to make backpacks with this! No complaints at all. Does more than I’ve needed it to without complaint. I got an old Elna and thought I’d ditch this, but this does more than the Elna, and more easily, so I went back to this. Maybe it won’t last forever (I don’t see signs of wear) but even if it doesn’t, I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.

I love everything about this sewing machine except the needle threader. I love the idea of an automatic needle threader because lord knows it's hard to thread a needle, but this needle threader is COMPLICATED. The first time I used the machine it took me over an hour of trying and trying to get the thing to work. I was literally on the verge of tears. I finally found a video on YouTube that explained it in a way that finally worked for me. Otherwise, this is a great little machine once it's threaded. Hopefully Brother reads these reviews and can make a design improvement on the threader.

Only done basic sewing so far, but the machine is easy to use, portable. Extremely happy with this purchase.

A beginner and I love this machine. So easy to use

This is my third Brother sewing machine. I was very pleased with my first two. This one has entirely too much plastic in the bobbin assembly. The bobbin rattles when sewing. The auto threading feature is difficult to use and doesn’t look like it will last long. I was very disappointed with the cheap construction and this will be my last Brother.

I absolutely love this machine, it includes everything it says, normally I would think its not really that good right? But when i picked it up, I was amazed, it really is light weight, and after the first stitch, I immediately fell in love with this machine. Lightweight, simple to use, easy threading and bobbin winding, extremely quick setup, easy to maintain, and all sorts of amazing stitches to chose from! Ive been sewing pillows with it and I made one for my sister with her name on it and she loves it. I do love the LED work light, and the blade around the left side makes a lot easier trimming the thread, the controls are easy to use, no messing around with it it sewed perfectly brand new without even touching the adjustments. And the ease of maintenance too! Every night when im done i unscrew the plate thing and clean out the bobbin case with a brush to keep this thing going. And it says it is jam resistant and It actually is, it has only jammed once but thats because my beginner cousin didnt know how to use it yet. The only thing i dont like it how loud it is, but I still insist you buy this machine. I love it.

Re-hemmed Levis jeans, just had to go slowly over seams. Buy heavy duty thread, looked good.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sewing machine offers good features for a beginner device. Lots of settings to choose from.

It continuously gets bogged down with lint from the thread and fabric. When this happens it fails to sew correctly and I have to use compressed air to blow it all out of there. Also, I'll be sewing along doing just fine on a zigzag stitch and from out of nowhere, in the middle of a line of stitching it decides to do a straight stitch. If I could go buy a different machine today I would smash this one with my hammer. Will I ever purchase another Brother machine? Probably not.

Great little lightweight machine for home use. Has not problem doing basic clothing or crafts. However, why would you not make the removable piece on the front, work as a drawer to hold all the accessories?? It could pull forward and be a storage drawer AND be removable to work on sleeves and such. Just a waste not to.

Love this machine! Sews like a dream. Easy threading of needle. Very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves to sew.

I love this little machine. It’s affordable, simple, light weight , dependable and so easy to use. I think it is one of the best value purchases I have ever made. If you sew for hobby (I make a lot of quilts) or just like to sew some of your own clothing or home accents, you can’t go wrong with this machine. For years I was a professional seamstress with a fancy machine – but this Brother is more a joy to work with than my other machine was!

I am a beginner and i brought this machine recently. It is very easy to sew with it. Has lots of options that come with it. I have not had any trouble with threading or bobbins. The built in light and thread cutter are awesome features. The free arm is great for sewing sleeves, skirts etc. I have just started learning sewing and have not had any trouble with this machine. It has markings which show threading information. Its pretty much self explanatory. The only thing i havent figured out yet is how to use the built in needle threader but thats because i havent read the manual yet. Love this machine
