You need to reset the lock when you first get it, but the instructions are easy to follow. I have been using this to lock up my laptop while at work and I love how quick I can set the combination lock. It fits my Dell laptop perfectly and the cable is long enough to wrap it around my desk leg. The quality of the lock is really nice. I can see this lasting for years to come! I would definitely recommend this lock for anyone with a newer laptop that wants to lock it up and protect it. It can be locked to an piece of furniture like a desk or a bed frame.

Then you can secure it around any object like a table leg so that your hardware is safe. I just got tired of the computer always being moved to a different location, so hopefully this will solve the problem.

The only negative is that the vinyl cover over the metal that forms the loop at the end of the cable is cheap in its appearance. Not sure if it was supposed to be removed or meant to stay on. Overall, this is a great lock, very happy with it.

While the toolbox does lock, he said he wanted just a little extra security when it came to his property. I got this for him. He was excited, but needed to try it first. The instruction sheet looked intimidating but you really only use a few of the steps for basic use. I set the numbers to default, turned the reset screw as instructed, set the numbers in the small window to the code I chose and turned the screw back. The lock area on my laptop was easy to find so I inserted it with the combo in place, turned the wheel until it latched firmly then spun the numbers out of combo. Done. The release wheel doesn’t budge until you enter the right combo. They have additional accessories you can buy like an anchor but you can also affix it around something that doesn’t detach as per the instructions. It’s a nice sturdy lock though and will definitely make it so no one can walk off with it. It’s heavy duty like large dog tethers so it’s not going to be easy to crack without attracting a lot of attention.
