About the Author
Christie Toth is an associate professor in the University of Utah's Department of Writing and Rhetoric Studies. She has taught writing at several open-admissions institutions, including Portland Community College, Clackamas Community College, Diné College, and Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). She currently serves as her department's Coordinator of Transfer Initiatives and Community College Partnerships, a role that emerged from her decade-long collaboration with colleagues at SLCC to support transfer students and graduate students aspiring to teach at access-oriented institutions. She regularly coauthors and coedits scholarship with two-year college faculty and students. That work has included articles in Teaching English in the Two-Year College, College Composition and Communication, College English, Journal of Writing Assessment, New Directions for Community Colleges, and ADE Bulletin, as well as the books Teaching Composition at the Two-Year College (2016), Writing Placement in Two-Year Colleges: The Pursuit of Equity in Postsecondary Education (2022), and Transfer in an Urban Writing Ecology: Reimagining Community College-University Relations in Composition Studies (2023).
