The Shrouded Throne - by Steven D Jackson (Paperback)

Book Synopsis

Power abhors a vacuum...

Suspicion and treachery stalk the Senate of Asterheim. Within the shadow of the long-abandoned throne, factions vie for power and alliances crumble. Amidst this chaos, a master manipulator makes his play for ultimate power.

When the aging Lady Gloriana is poisoned by her rivals in the Senate, only a chance encounter with a young mage saves her life. But her return to the political arena only fuels the growing fear of mages and their strange abilities, creating new divides that will see the city plunged into anarchy, and mages denounced as witches.

Together the young mages of the city must fight for their lives as the crisis deepens, threatening to place the power of the throne in the hands of a man whose deadly ambitions could destroy them all.
