Trope Hong Kong (Revised and Expanded Edition) - (Trope City Editions) by Sam Landers (Hardcover)

Book Synopsis

Trope Hong Kong celebrates the remarkable energy, architectural drama, and cultural richness of one of the world's most dynamic cities.

Defined by its soaring skyline, bustling harbor, and unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, Hong Kong has long inspired photographers drawn to its extraordinary density, vibrant street life, and ever-changing light. From neon-lit avenues to quiet hillside temples, the city marks a striking balance of tradition and modernity.

This unique collection brings together the work of over 20 independent photographers from Hong Kong and around the world, presenting more than 200 contemporary and carefully curated images that explore the city's architecture, neighborhoods, waterfront, and daily life. From intimate alleyways and bustling markets to panoramic harbor views and dramatic mountain landscapes, the photographs capture both quiet moments and the constant movement that defines Hong Kong. Each chapter is paired with a map identifying the locations where the images were captured, inviting readers to experience the city through the photographers' eyes.

From the skyline of Victoria Harbour and the Star Ferry to the bustling streets of Mong Kok and Central, from the historic neighborhoods of Sheung Wan and Wan Chai to the contemporary cultural district of West Kowloon, Trope Hong Kong presents a modern portrait of the city. Rich in contrast and endlessly captivating, Trope Hong Kong offers a contemporary visual portrait of a city that continues to reinvent itself while remaining unmistakably its own.
