Sometimes a book finds you at exactly the right moment. As I sit here in my late thirties, staring down the barrel of 40 (which I’ll admit feels a little intimidating), I expected Twenty Something Else by Stephanie Mack to be a breezy, entertaining read. Instead, it turned out to be exactly what my soul needed. This is a story about growing, loving, reflecting on life choices, and the courage it takes to face a major milestone. Following the main character as she navigated her own big turning 40 moment felt like a gift. This story was the perfect blend of friendship, growth, and gratitude. I absolutely loved the faith elements that were sprinkled in. The story was well written. The pacing was perfect. I really felt like the main character, Sutton, was so relatable. If I could give this book six stars, I absolutely would. I was so impressed with the depth of this story. I will keep its message with me for a long time.

FANTASTIC DEBUT NOVEL!!!

This novel is so fun, so refreshing - I absolutely loved it! Stephanie's humor and vulnerability comes through every page. Sutton Layne is our main character. She is about to turn 40, and she has a wonderful, chaotic life. A happy marriage and three children, and a business of her own. There are some challenges in her life - her kids are sometimes difficult, and her husband has given up on throwing her a party that he was planning for her fortieth birthday. Sutton receives a message from someone in her past, and it changes everything. She has an accident on the pickleball court and while she is passed out, she "wakes up" somewhere else - and her angel visits her giving her the chance to re-do her twenties - on her terms - with some surprising results. The author takes us on a fun journey of our life choices, the bumps in the road, and what leads us to our destiny - and she adds a little pixie dust! Really wonderful book that all women - young or old - should read! Witty, redemptive, and full of love!

Summery California meets It's A Wonderful Life magical realism

If you love the classic movie, It's A Wonderful Life, this is the read you've been waiting for! On the eve of her 40th birthday, Sutton Layne wonders where the spark in her marriage has gone, if raising her teens is a lose-lose situation, and if the dreams she abandoned to attain the life she has now was worth it. A pickleball accident sends her to a portal where she's given the choice to redo pivotal points in her life. Her journey explores her friendships, her big choices, and lost relationships that could have been more--but would that life have been better? Mack's writing sparkles with lyrical beauty and truth from the first lines to the last. I loved the California vibes -- summery sweet and juicy -- and the ending was especially poignant and romantic. Five stars for this traditional debut! Thanks to the publisher for a free copy. All opinions are my own.

My favorite book this summer - must read!

After getting knocked out playing pickleball, Sutton Layne wakes up on the eve of her 40th birthday with a chance to relive her 20s. She gets to explore paths & choices not taken, especially what her life would have looked like if she hadn’t married her husband or became a mom to three kids. I absolutely LOVED this book & was hooked trying to figure out how it would end. The author did a great job addressing struggles in marriage & motherhood an almost 40-year-old woman would realistically have. I read most of this book while pumping for my newborn twins in the middle of the night (Thank you Stephanie Mack for giving me a story to look forward to during the newborn blur!) so it was definitely relatable to the feeling of loving your children but also wondering what life would look like as a single woman free to pursue other dreams. And ultimately answering the question, are all the sacrifices & mundane work as a mom worth it? Spoiler alert: Yes. Yes they are. I also loved how the author explored Sutton’s faith & God’s plan for her life as a critical factor in exploring other paths not taken. Readers who enjoy Christian fiction or clean romance will love this book! Highly recommend!
