Verity Guild - by Mai Corland (Hardcover)

This Roman-esque whodunit had me on my toes. FMC is hiding a big secret. Recently thrust in to a position of power, she’s carefully trying to manage her new responsibilities. An unexpected murder then puts her in an even more precarious situation. MMC is out for revenge while simultaneously proving himself. These two had a healthy banter and I loved their chemistry. I can see why Mai said this couple is her favorite. There always seemed to be something happen (cough murder cough), so pacing felt pretty even throughout. While the story was serious, there were several moments where I laughed out loud. This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers that went up in flames. I was guessing (incorrectly) the entire book.
