A much-anticipated new release by one of the nation's most acclaimed vocal jazz groups. After an hiatus spent pursuing individual projects and teaching (four of the members of Vox One are on the faculty of America's most prestigious jazz college, the Berkeley College of Music), the original group has reunited to release this album a collection of off-the-beaten track originals, covers and spontaneous improvs. Deftly infusing elements of jazz, folk, gospel, blues and world music, "Pure Imagination" is a concoction of intricate musical arrangements, inventive improvs, and unexpected re-harmonization's which give familiar songs a new twist. Vox One rewrites the manual of a cappella convention and gives our long deprived palates a fresh taste of vocal jazz.
