Join Blue Bird as he looks for his Easter Basket. But first, he must figure out just what an Easter Basket is. He starts asking everything he runs across if they are an Easter Basket. He asks that question of a yellow chick, a chocolate bunny, a bunch of jelly beans, and many more. Every one says no, they are not an Easter Basket, but will come along with him to help look for it. Children will have lots of fun seeing the different items, and hearing them say they are not an Easter Basket. Little ones will know that each one is something that goes into an Easter Basket, but each one by itself is not a basket. This chunky board book is perfect for small hands and the colorful illustrations throughout the volume will capture their imagination. Children through five years old will have lots of fun with this five-star book! WorthyKids has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, Where’s My Easter Basket?, for the purpose of review.

“Hey, tomorrow is Easter. Do you have your Easter Basket?” the little bluebird asks in Bob Holt’s children’s book, Where’s My Easter Basket? ~ What ~ This twenty-page board book with rounded edges targets children ages one to four years old. With no scary scenes, it focuses on a little bird putting an Easter basket together with the help of others. Sophomoric full-color illustrations cover the pages with easy-to-read font size. In this fun story, a penguin is excited since it was almost time for Christmas. When a friendly narwhal asks him if he put up a tree yet, the little animal is determined to find one. With the narwal telling him trees are found in a forest, he asks his fellow penguins, a walrus, and seagulls how to find a forest out in the middle of an iceberg. When his friends realize how disappointed the penguin is that he cannot find a live tree, they band together to create a special one. ~Why ~ This is a nice tale to read to a young child who likes the concept of an Easter basket. I appreciate that when a bluebird realizes Easter is the next day and is unsure what an Easter basket is, he asks a fluffy yellow chick, jellybeans, chocolate bunny, dyed egg, and a basket to help him put it together. The colors are bright and cheery in the designs. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not like books that focus on the Easter basket and not the true meaning of the holiday may not be interested in this book. Others may find the two and three-syllable words too hard for beginner readers, yet it is geared toward pre-school-aged children. ~ Wish ~ I wish this book mentioned Easter is about Jesus’s resurrection, although it would be hard to interject it into the storyline. The book has words like nope and nopers, so does not use correct English. ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a read about teamwork during Easter, this fun book can be added to a young reader’s Easter basket and enjoyed. Thanks to Hachette Book Group, WorthyKids, and the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.
