Capacity varies by design: some frames support about 880 pounds, heavier-duty upholstered metal or wood-slat frames are rated up to 1000 pounds, and a few built-in cabinet/Wall beds list capacities around 600 pounds.

Many platform frames specify compatibility with mattresses roughly 8–15 inches thick, while some fold-away or cabinet-style beds recommend mattress thicknesses closer to 8–10 inches.

Support styles vary. Many are platform designs (slats or platform base) that state “No Box Spring Needed,” while some panel-style frames explicitly list that a box spring is required.

Storage features range from built-in drawers (commonly three) and under-bed clearance for bins to integrated side storage towers and multiple drawers in cabinet-style or Murphy designs.
